Nineteen Al Shabaab militants among them two High Value Targets and militant leaders have been killed by Somali Special Forces in an offensive against the militia group in Gedo region.
The targets who were under the forces’ radar following multiple attacks on Mogadishu went into hiding after getting wind that they had been declared wanted.
The operation was launched some 38 kilometres out of Buurdhuubo town, SouthWest of Gedo region. The Special Forces recovered weapons and ammunition from the fighters who were outgunned by the security officers.
