Three deny they had grenade and Rogo DVDs, say held illegally for over 24 hours

Three young men found with a grenade and DVDs about slain cleric Sheikh Aboud Rogo yesterday were charged in a Nairobi court.

They denied having a weapon and articles connected to terrorism.

Ibrahim Baloni, Yussuf Lungayo and David Wanjala were arraigned before chief magistrate Francis Andayi.

The three were arrested on July 6 at Kawangware. But the suspects said they were arrested on July 7. They said they have been denied contact with their relatives.

Wanjala said he was called to be a prosecution witness, but he was shocked that he had also been charged with the same offences.

Andayi will rule on bond today. He told police to respond to claims they held the three illegally for more than 24 hours without charging them.
