KDF soldiers have killed 14 al-Shabaab militants after botched attack on camp
Kenya Defence Force (KDF) on Saturday, June 3, killed 14 al-Shabaab militants in Abdidore about 27Km from Kismayu,Somalia.
TUKO.co.ke has learnt that the militants had attempted to enter the KDF camp located in the area before being repulsed by the Kenyan soldiers. Among those killed in the botched attack was a mid-level al-Shabaab commander, said to have been coordinating the raid on the KDF camp.
According to sources, the militants had used two vehicles laden with explosives to try and gain entry into the camp but were neutralised by the Kenyan forces. The terror group on sensing defeat retreated as KDF fired heavy artillery on them.
The latest confrontation between KDF and al-Shabaab comes just hours after the terror group attempted second attack on Kulbiyow on Friday night, June 2.
As TUKO.co.ke earlier reported the militants briefly overrun the camp belonging to SNA for hours and bombarded the KDF camp nearby with mortars. According to reports, al-Shabaab suffered heavy losses after KDF heavily bombed the town of Kulbiyow as the militants were retreating.
